As President, Theodore Roosevelt realized that Americans were wasting their natural resources. As a result, he enacted conservation acts and massive irrigation projects. Such projects included the Desert Land Act, the Roosevelt Dam, and the Forest Reserve Act. Under these acts, millions of acres of land were set aside for conservation.
